In the race against
worldwide economies, Singapore has emerged tops
for facilitating the efficient transit of goods.
Singapore has been ranked first among customs authorities in
55 countries for facilitating the efficient transit of goods.
This is according to the International Institute for Management
Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook 2007.
In terms of overall competitiveness, Singapore also scored well,
coming in second after the United States.
The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook is recognised
as the world’s most renowned and comprehensive annual
report on the competitiveness of nations. Published yearly since
1989, it analyses and ranks the ability of nations to create
and maintain an environment that sustains business competitiveness.
The 2007 Yearbook measured 55 national economies on the basis
of 323 criteria.
