Latest release: TradeNet® Version 4.0

Enhancing TradeNet®
TradeNet® was launched in 1989 as the world’s first nationwide electronic data interchange system that enables traders to submit permit applications electronically to government bodies for processing. In 2006, TradeNet® processed over nine million permits, with over 90% processed in less than 10 minutes. Committed to facilitating trade, Singapore Customs has been continually enhancing the system over the past 17 years. The last system upgrade to Version 3.1 was conducted in January 2003.
The revamped TradeNet®, which was rolled out in October 2007, further streamlines the trade declaration process and offers an extensive suite of permit services. The key reason behind the change: Singapore Customs aims to better meet the needs of the trading community and enhance its competitiveness.

Previously, if you were a trader who needed to bring in goods for re-export, you would have to lodge two permit declarations – one for the import leg and another for the export leg.

Now, with the revamped TradeNet®, you can simply use the new “import for re-export” permit to cover your entire shipment. Not only will you save time, you’ll be delighted to note that the processing and transmission fees per declaration has been reduced – so you get to enjoy cost savings too!

Added benefits of TradeNet® Version 4.0 include a more simplified permit structure with fewer declaration fields, as well as a full range of permit services (see list below).

The new TradeNet® also offers the flexibility to amend permit details, cancel unused permits and submit claims for refund of duty and GST erroneously paid.

TradeNet® Version 4.0 is a core application of TradeXchange®, a neutral
e-platform that facilitates information exchange in the trade and logistics community (learn more in this story).
