In line with Singapore Customs’ continuing efforts to make trade easy and convenient for the trading community, Singapore Customs recently launched three services that are accessible through mobile phones.   With the new services, getting updates and enquiring information on the go are much more convenience and easy.   The three services are: (1) Declaration Status Enquiry  (2) Exchange Rate Search and (3) Currency Converter.

To use the mobile services, users will need to have a Wifi enabled mobile phone and connect to the URL:  https://www.tradexchange.gov.sg/mobile

(1) Declaration Status Enquiry

The Declaration Status Enquiry function will enable users to find out the status of their declaration, whether their declaration submitted has been approved, rejected or pending for further submission of supporting documents.  With these updates, it enables users to make prompt decision and act accordingly to speed up their transaction process.  To ensure that the information is only provided to the authorised viewer, this function will require users to log in with their TradeNet® user-id.

(2) Exchange Rate Search

The Exchange Rate Search function allows users to enquire published Customs exchange rate on the go.  Users can have the option of listing the top 10 most frequent used exchange rates or select a specific country’s exchange rate.  For both selections, users can enter the date of search to get the required exchange rate. After obtaining the exchange rate, user can further make use of the result to convert to Singapore dollars and estimate the GST amount payable.

(3) Currency Converter

The Currency Converter function provides a “money changer” service for users to convert amount from one currency to another currency.
