Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (Animal)


1. The import, export and transshipment of live animals, birds, veterinary biologics, animal feed and animal products are regulated by AVA, Quarantine & Inspection Department, Import & Export Regulation Division (IERD), Animal & Plant Section (Animal).


2. AVA Permit and Licence Requirements:

a) Only holders of AVA Licence to Possess Veterinary Biologics can import and handle veterinary biologics.  For more information, please contact the Licensing Division, Veterinary Section, Agri Establishment Regulation Department, Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, 75 Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore 118507 at Tel: 64719093 / 9992.

b) Importers of live pigs, live poultry and hen eggs for consumption must be registered with the Import & Export Regulation Division, Animal & Plant Section (Animal).

c) For the import, export and transshipment of live animals and birds, traders must apply for an AVA permit in advance.  For import and transshipment of veterinary biologics, animal feed and animal products, an AVA permit is also required. 3. TradeNet® Declaration

When you prepare the import, export and transshipment permit application through TradeNet®, you must declare the following information:

a)  Description of goods field:

     - the common name

     - the scientific name (for wildlife and birds)

     - the brand name (for animal feed/pet food)

b)  The product information:

     - CA/SC product code field - e.g. VAF0DG for Dog/Cat Food

     - CA/SC product quantity field - e.g. 10000

     - CA/SC product unit of quantity field - e.g. CEN for eggs

     - CA/SC Code 1 field - to input approved farm code for the
       import  of live pigs, live poultry, hen eggs, live frogs and
       dried birds’ nest.

c)  Licence field:

     - licence number issued by IERD, Animal & Plant Section
      (Animal) to importers for the import of live pigs, live poultry, hen
      eggs, live frogs and dried birds’ nest.
