Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (Ornamental Fish)

1. The import and export of ornamental fish and live food fish (for farming) are regulated by AVA, Quarantine and Inspection Department (QID), Import & Export Regulation Division (IERD), Ornamental Fish Section.

 

2. Prior to the import and export of ornamental fish, a company must possess a Licence to Import or Export Live Fish issued by AVA. Live food fish importers/exporters must possess a Licence for Import/Export & Transhippment of Meat Products and Fish Products prior to import/export. Before Import and Export Permit Application

 

3. Prior to the import and export of ornamental fish or live food fish, a company must submit the permit application to AVA (Ornamental Fish Section) for approval through TradeNet® and submit the following documents to AVA (Ornamental Fish Section) via facsimile or as softcopy attachments in TradeNet®:

 

i) The invoices/packing lists (To state clearly the HS Code, Product Code, Common names, Scientific names, Quantities, Country of origin, and Total value of the consignment)

ii) Import health certificates, where applicable (for import)

iii) CITES Certificate, where applicable (for endangered species, e.g., Asian Arowana)

 

During Import and Export Permit Application

 

4. You must declare the following:

i) Licence No. (refer to point (2) above) in the Licence/Certificate No. field.

ii) Correct species (Common & Scientific names) of ornamental fish/live food fish in the Description of Goods field

iii) Product code information (CA/SC product code, CA/SC product quantity and CA/SC product unit of quantity) in the appropriate fields. Please see AVA (Ornamental Fish Section) product code list for details.

iv) Premises code of importer must be declared under “CA/SC Code 1” field and import health certificate number must be indicated on the “CA/SC Code 2” field, where applicable.

 

5. Piranhas are not allowed to be imported into Singapore.

 

6. All import of genetically modified fish or transgenic fish requires a written approval from the AVA prior to import.

 

7. After you have submitted your permit application through TradeNet®, you are to fax immediately to AVA (Ornamental Fish Section) at fax no. 6759 5042 the relevant documents mentioned herein bearing the Unique Reference No. for processing, if you are not attaching the documents as softcopy. Once the permit application is approved, you can print the Cargo Clearance Permit (CCP) and use it for clearing your consignment. Please comply with the conditions as stated in the CCP.
