OPCW inspections are conducted in States Parties' declared sites to ensure that declarations made by States Parties to OPCW are correct and accurate.
OPCW inspectors are trained to conduct on-site inspections to verify the compliance of States Parties to provisions of the Convention. These inspectors were recruited from different countries (only States Parties), and are employed solely by the Organisation on a contractual basis and shall represent the Organisation during each inspection mission in the inspected State Party.
The OPCW inspectors would arrive in the designated State Party in a team consisting of at least 2 or more inspectors. They would carry inspection equipment necessary for them to conduct the inspection in accordance with the mandate signed by the Director-General of OPCW. The inspection equipment brought into the State Party has to be approved by the Conference of States Parties.
