Seminar on US-Singapore Export Controls

Singapore Customs is organising a one-day export control seminar at the DBS Auditorium on 28 Jan 2010, with speakers from the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, US Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Singapore Customs.

Manufacturers, exporters, logistics providers, freight forwarders, researchers and individuals dealing with strategic goods or strategic goods technology are encouraged to attend the Seminar.

Topics to be covered include:

  • US Export Control Policies and Regulations;
  • US Re-export and Deemed Export Controls;
  • US Country Policies and Embargoes;
  • Understanding Encryption Controls under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR);
  • US Defence Trade Controls; and
  • Enforcement and Compliance by the US and Singapore Customs.

The Seminar will provide a good opportunity for the trading community to enhance their understanding of the export control systems of the US and Singapore, and related enforcement measures.

Seminar participants may also sign up to meet the speakers for one-to-one consultation on the export control system of the US or Singapore.

Please refer to the programme (DOC 9.31KB) for more details.

Singapore Customs will also be hosting an Information Corner at the DBS Auditorium Foyer to allow consultancy firms, which would like to offer their services to companies wishing to implement an internal export control compliance programme, to place their name cards and/or company literature/publications for participants' perusal.

Interested parties may download the relevant registration form found below and inform us by 22 Jan 2010, the type and quantity of the materials that you would like to place at this Information Corner. Singapore Customs will subsequently advise you on the logistics arrangements of when and how you should deliver these materials should your request be accepted.
