Transacting with Customs for the first time

To engage in import and export activities or to operate a licensed/bonded warehouse in Singapore, your company or business should first be registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). Please click here to obtain information on registration with ACRA or visit their website at http://www.acra.gov.sg/.

On successful registration with ACRA, you would now be ready to apply for a Central Registration Number (or CR Number, in short) and to complete registration with Singapore Customs. Please click here for the registration information and online forms.

In general, all goods imported are subject to Goods & Services Tax (GST) while some goods are dutiable. In addition, all import, export and transhipment of goods have to be covered by relevant Customs Permits declared via the TradeNet® System.

Your company or business may register with Singapore Customs to declare TradeNet® Permits. Please click here for more information on the Customs Documentation and Declaration Procedures.

Alternatively, you may appoint a freight forwarding agent who is registered as a TradeNet® user with Customs or engage the services of the Service Centre to lodge the relevant declarations on your behalf. Please click here for lists of local freight forwarding agents and here for the list of TradeNet® Service Centres.

To find out more about the various schemes and licences administered by Singapore Customs such as the Zero GST Warehouse Scheme for companies who wish to suspend GST on their imported goods, please click here.
