Strategic Goods (Control) Act

The Strategic Goods (Control) Act (Chapter 300) controls the transfer and brokering of strategic goods and related technology, as well as goods and technology capable of being used to develop, produce, operate, stockpile or acquire weapons capable of causing mass destruction, and missiles capable of delivering such weapons.

Subsidiary Legislation

The Strategic Goods (Control) Regulations 2004 was gazetted on 5th January 2004 to put in place a set of procedural guidelines for the administration of the Strategic Goods (Control) Act. The Regulations enable Singapore Customs officers to impose composition fines for technical offences; help reduce administrative costs of legitimate traders by allowing them to apply for bulk permits for non-sensitive exports/re-exports, air transhipments and electronic transmissions of technology under the Approved Company Scheme; and to spell out conditions of permit approval, revocation or suspension for both individual and bulk permits.
