SC 200 - Strategic Goods Control Programme

Since 1 January 2003, Singapore had put in place a strategic goods control system to regulate trade in strategic goods and technology. The Strategic Goods Control Programme is a 1 day programme that consists of 2 modules, SC 201 Basics of Strategic Goods Control Seminar and SC 202 Essentials of Internal (Export Control) Compliance Programme Seminar. This programme seeks to enhance the industry’s awareness and understanding of Singapore’s strategic goods control system, the Strategic Goods (Control) Act (SGCA) and its regulations, the registration procedures and permit requirements for strategic goods transactions  as well as the essentials of an internal (export control) compliance programme. The SGCA controls the transfer and brokering of strategic goods, and related software and technology, as well as any other goods and technology capable of being used to develop, produce, operate, stockpile or acquire weapons capable of causing mass destruction, and missiles capable of delivering such weapons.

Objective

:

By learning the registration procedures and permit requirements for strategic goods transactions, participants will gain a better understanding of Singapore’s strategic goods control system and its related legislations. Participants will also be taught the key issues to look out for to comply with the regulations.

The programme is suitable for individuals who wish to learn the application procedures and registration requirements for strategic goods permits, and acquire knowledge on the strategic goods control system. The programme is also suitable for companies who are interested in setting up an Internal (Export Control) Compliance Programme (ICP) and companies interested in applying for Tier 2 or Tier 3 permits under the Strategic Trade Scheme (STS).

With effect from February 2012, participants may also choose to register for individual modules instead of attending the whole programme.
