Want to know more about Customs documentation and procedures for importing, exporting and transhipping of goods subject to duties and GST?

Singapore Customs now offers a new training course for the business community known as the Customs Competency Programme for Businesses. The new Programme replaced the former Customs Documentation Course. The Programme will be managed by the Container Depot Association (Singapore) (CDAS), and is supported by SPRING Singapore under the Local Enterprise and Association Development (LEAD) programme. Eligible participants may also receive partial funding support for the course fee from the Workforce Development Agency under the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Training for Enhanced Performance and Upgrade (Step-UP) Scheme.

The Programme aims to enhance the competency of businesses in handling customs matters and is structured into two parts. Part I provides an overview of the customs procedures pertaining to importation and exportation of goods. Part II covers a wider range of topics including temporary importation, manifest procedures, warehousing regimes, strategic goods control, supply chain security, customs laws and international regimes. Strategic Goods Control Programme for Businesses

As part of our efforts to enhance the industry’s awareness of
Singapore’s strategic goods control system, Singapore Customs has been reaching out to the industry through various outreach programmes since 2002.

Singapore Customs has is introducing a new training programme for the business community known as the “Strategic Goods Control Programme for Businesses”.  The new programme will replace the former “Strategic Goods Control Course for Beginners – Understanding Your Responsibilities and Obligations Under the Strategic Goods (Control) Act (
SGC-RO)” and “Essentials of Internal (Export Control) Compliance Programme (SGC-ICP)”.

The Programme is suitable for individuals who wish to learn about the application procedures and registration requirements for strategic goods permits, and acquire knowledge on the strategic goods control system. It is also suitable for companies who are interested in setting up an Internal (Export Control) Compliance Programme (ICP) and in applying for Tier 2 or Tier 3 permits under the Strategic Trade Scheme (STS).

Both Programmes are managed by the Container Depot Association (Singapore) (CDAS), and supported by SPRING Singapore under the Local Enterprise and Association Development (LEAD) Programme. Eligible participants may also receive partial funding support for the course fees from the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) under the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Training for Enhanced Performance and Upgrade (Step-UP) Scheme.
