ATA Carnet
Information on the ATA Carnet such as the qualifying purposes of ATA Carnet.
ATA Carnet
An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that allows goods to be temporarily imported or exported. It suspends duties and taxes on temporarily imported goods and allows temporarily exported goods to be re-imported. It also contains customs declaration forms for each border crossing.
What ATA Carnets are used for
Each signatory country or territories’ National Guaranteeing Association (NGA) issues ATA Carnets for eligible goods that are temporarily imported into other signatory countries and territories for exhibitions, fairs and similar events.
ATA Carnets cannot be used for consumables such as food, alcoholic beverages or tobacco products. Private vehicles used for touring require a Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD).
For clearance procedures and submission of Carnet requests, please visit the Local ATA Carnet page or Foreign ATA Carnet page, depending on your ATA Carnet type.
