To import goods into Singapore, you must submit a Customs Import Permit through TradeNet.
Before You Apply
1. Register for a Unique Entity Number
You must first register with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) or the relevant Unique Entity Number (UEN) issuance agency to obtain a UEN.
2. Activate Your Customs Account
After receiving your UEN, activate your Customs Account with Singapore Customs. This is required before any import permit application can be submitted.
How You Can Apply for Import Permits
Once your Customs Account is activated, you may choose one of the following options:
Option A: Appoint a Declaring Agent
A Declaring Agent (DA) can apply for customs permits on your behalf.
Option B: Apply for Permits Yourself
If you prefer to make declarations yourself or for your clients, you must:
Register as a DA, and
Apply for a TradeNet User ID to access the system.
How to Submit Permit Applications
All import permit applications must be submitted through TradeNet, using one of the following channels:
TradeNet front-end software from an approved software vendor; or
These channels allow you or your DA to process import declarations and receive approved permit notifications.
After You Apply
Once your permit is approved, follow the conditions stated on the permit for cargo clearance and payment of duties and GST (where applicable).
