Tourist Refund Scheme

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) is administered by Singapore Customs on behalf of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). The scheme is for tourists who wish to claim a refund of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on their purchases.

These purchases must be bought in Singapore from retailers who participate in the scheme. More information on the scheme’s conditions and eligibility criteria is available on the IRAS’ Tourist Refund Scheme page.

Additional Information:

  • You are required to seek endorsement at the terminal where you will be checking in your purchases or where your flight will be departing from.
  • You must depart with the purchases on a flight within 12 hours of obtaining approval for your GST refund.
  • Singapore Customs will not be responsible for any delay or endorse your refund application if you fail to meet any of the eligibility criteria or conditions.
  • Singapore Customs does not issue eTRS refund tickets nor process the refund of the GST. If you have queries on the criteria and procedures on obtaining the ticket, please contact IRAS via email or (+65) 63568633.
It is an offence to make a false declaration in the refund application to Singapore Customs, remove the purchases out of the airport, or to pass the purchases to other individuals after the refund application has been endorsed by Singapore Customs. Offenders can be prosecuted in court.
